RoamingTales Roaming Tales is a very well written travel blog by a journalist who covers travel in her day-job as a journalist, and uses this blog to fill in the gaps with lighter material. Her published articles are excellent, but I particularly enjoy her tone and frequent updates on RoamingTales itself. Visit the Site
SoloRoadTrip Tammie, over 40, married with kids, a history in the financial sector. Oh boy, what a snoozer! Or maybe not. Tammie Dooley's travelogue is beautiful and poignant, and a reminder that family and the obligations of life, are not burdens, and should never serve as an excuse to stop traveling. Visit the Site

Vagabonding February 29, 2008 I have been a fan of Mike's website for years now, and he is one of the founding inspirations for great travel websites. His locations are amazing, and the way he captures action, people, and their accents and quirks is bar-none. Mike traveled in 2002-2003, and this site is based on that time. But I hope to see more travels from Mike. Visit the Site
TravelVice February 14, 2008 Travelvice covers the travel addiction of Craig Heimburger. I always come away from his posts feeling inspired and drawn in. Sometimes, he covers controversial or awkward moments in a way often missing in online travelogues. Visit the Site
Pilgrimage for the Modern Traveler February 11, 2008 Kolby Kirk's travel site is the embodiment of the best of independent travel website. The text is fun and compelling, the photography is top notch, the site design is engaging, but best of all, his journals are exquisite. Visit the Site

ExpeditionsWest September 15, 2006 ExpeditionsWest follows the route of offroad mastermind Scott Brady and his crew across some of the most rugged and unknown portions of the Desert Southwest. His photos and descriptions are breathtaking, and the site's design is inventive, sharp and unlike anything else out there. This site is the genuine heart of the independent travelogue. Mixeye - Mixeye is a platform for the general public to showcase their insights and opinions. Mr. Sparks goes out of his way to find the work of citizen journalists and to make small voices larger. It's a great concept, and includes some great work.

The Aesthetic
The South Bay's journal of arts and ideas is a wonderful, clean site with lots of good writing and humor. I am partial to the Aesthetic for its narrative on the Los Angeles beach community where I live.

Ramon Stoppelenburg
is one of the most fascinating personalities in travel out there. For over two years, he travelled around the world without any money. He made his way by staying with people who visited his website and offered their support or home. A true joy!
Enric's photographic and descriptive depictions of Barcelona in Virtourist are some of the best. You get a strong sense of the city, but wait...Virtourist covers places all over the world, and some of the other depictions of cities are worthwhile too.
Adventure Journalist - This is an incredibly neat site that started out as a cross-country journal, but evolved as its talented author evolved.
PhotoEclectica - Maureen's site is rare in the sense that it is a very pure writing and photography sites. Her subjects and places are vast, and it's easy to get lost following her along the way. She writes, "Every trip out of the home, as well as the home itself, is the stage for the next interesting photograph. Every subject is potentially an interesting and aesthetically pleasing." How true.
webExpeditions.net is several good things. This is one of the few visually appealing travel-related websites on the web. It allows you to quickly get to some of the most important expeditions currently underway, as well as to learn about historical expeditions. It is truly one of those rare sites that provides thorough research and links into a subject.
Terrain.org - A journal of the built and natural environments. An amazing journal with a unique concept. The UnSprawl section is dead-on.
TransitionsAbroad.com - For over 26 years Transitions Abroad has provided practical no-nonsense information covering all aspects of work abroad, study abroad, overseas
travel and international living.
Travellerspoint.com - One of the best travel sites on the web. Worldwide travel community with a range of free travel tools and information to help plan a trip before you leave, enjoy a trip while you are on the road and keep in touch with travel friends after returning home.
JoeTourist.com - this is a good site to do research, with a personal touch, fun photos, and honest criticism of places, hotels and restaurants.
Traveling is Living - Inspiring pictures to go along with travel descriptions from 25 countries.
toandfromtheairport.com - detailed information on getting to, and leaving airports around the world.
Brazilmax.com - the Gringo's guide to Brazil. This is a nice site that gracefully describes a variety of areas in Brazil. It also has great information on Brazilian film, the arts and culture.
Academia Kolumbus - International Spanish School in Quito Ecuador: Spanish courses as individual and group classes for all levels, internship and volunteering mediation for all fields.
Travelblog - this is a much needed concept on the web. A great blog site about travel, that allows members to chat. The amount of material on this site is outstanding.
Papawestray - a classy site about a very small island in the Orkneys.
Jeff Burns (You Know, the Writer...) - first hand accounts and pictures from travels in Asia, the South Pacific and the U.S., don’t skip the fictional stories of Bragguado

Maldenite - a rich website that chronicles a small and lovely town in Missouri. The photography and flavor of the website is very rich.

Dave's Travel Corner - Hobby travel website offering free travel rich content including articles, photos, links, classifieds, message boards & much more.
ConnectedTraveler - this site has lots of great places to go. Russ has a great sense of humor, and a fun, intelligent way of describing places. It is a large site, so there are plenty of places to go. The travel reports are good, and there are some fun sidebars including an enjoyable travel humor section.
Eclecticat.com is an intelligent, and funny weblog, with a sense of style too.
