Salton Sea Facts

The Salton Sea is the largest lake in California.

The Salton Sea is the third largest Saline lake in the United States.

About 10,000 years ago, the Salton Sink contained Lake Cahuilla. The area was occupied by Native Americans.

Sonny Bono, entertainer and Republican lawmaker, imagined before his untimely death that his destiny would be tied to the restoration of the Salton Sea.
