Map of the Gibraltar

Gibraltar is 3.1 miles long and only a half mile wide. It is primarily a limestone peninsula.

Gibraltar is not an island. It is connected to Spain by a sandy spit of land.

The population of Gibraltar is just under 30,000.

There are three types of dolphin in the Bay of Gibraltar: bottlenose, striped and common. Dolphin watching is common.

In 1713, Spain handed over control of Gibraltar to Britain, but they have attempted to get it back ever since.
