Wander the Great Plains

Travel writing from Minnesota to Louisiana

North America's Great Plains region, which extends from the Canadian plains states of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, to the southern Mississippi River states and Mexico's northern gulf, is a broad collection of prairies, farmlands and lowlands.

Steadily losing its rural populations for over a hundred years, the Great Plains is a region in transition. Climate change, big agriculture and globalization are swiftly transforming this land of lonely roads, vast swamps and prairies. Follow me from Minnesota to Louisiana.
